San Gabriel’s safety policy requires two adults in the classroom at all times.

Please consider joining our teachers in the classroom *one* Sunday over the next several weeks as a Classroom Helper. No preparation is necessary, simply show up at 10:30 a.m. and enjoy learning with, and from, our youngest UUs.

Please click HERE to sign up today! We cannot hold class without you – thank you so much!

See you on Sundays!

Kenneth “Spoon” Witherspoon

Children at San Gabriel shouted “Hooray, he’s so fun!” when they learned Kenneth “Spoon” Witherspoon would be their teacher. Mr. Spoon, as they call him, has a long history working with children, including as the director of a theatrical troupe for at-risk youth,a playwright in residence for a youth theater program, a house parent for abused children, and a crisis intervention counselor.
An accomplished playwright and dramaturge, Spoon has also been honored with many awards for his theatrical work. We are so pleased Spoon chose to share his many gifts with our congregation and our Religious Education program. As he recently shared, Spoon agrees with Confucius that  “If your plan is for one year plant rice. If your plan is for ten years plant trees. If your plan is for one hundred years educate children.”

Allison McKee

allison-mckee Allison McKee has lived in Georgetown for almost ten years, and is Director of Marketing and Events at the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce.  She and her husband, Raymond Husser, joined San Gabriel in 2015. Since then, Allison has been particularly drawn to working with the children of our congregation. She enjoys partnering with them on their journey of religious exploration and getting the opportunity to experience their enthusiasm and wonder along the way! Allison also teaches because she wants to support the health and growth of our community. Allison recently completed teacher training and is eager to share what she’s learned with the children of San Gabriel. Thank you Allison for your commitment, both as a teacher and a member of the Religious Education Committee!
