Move the Monument: An Interfaith and Community Gathering for Justice and Peace on Nov. 12

We seek to create a community based on welcoming to all people, peace, and social justice. United in those values, we gather to say to the Williamson County Commissioners that the confederate monument does not belong on our Square. We invite people of faith, as well as those of no specific faith, to join us at the Courthouse Square at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, for “Move the Monument: An Interfaith and
Community Gathering for Justice and Peace.”
We believe that:

  •  The Courthouse Square should be a welcoming space for all in our community.
  • The Confederate States of America monument glorifies the military that fought a war for the defense of the enslavement of African Americans.
  • Our County Courthouse cannot represent justice for all when a confederate monument remains on its grounds.
  • The confederate monument should be moved to the IOOF cemetery where
    confederate soldiers are buried.

Join us as we help to create a community and a County where all are welcome and we
unite for peace and social justice.
