Religious But Not Spiritual

Many of us know about the growing number of “Nones” or people who proclaim to be “spiritual but not religious”. Many UUs, including myself, have made this proclamation before proudly beginning to explain the UU identity, and how we create a “spiritual-but-not-religious” community together. This Sunday, gather with me to challenge that notion; to think both religiously and spiritually, or maybe even just religiously. Let us begin a difficult dialogue about how the next four years may call upon us to become fervently more religious than spiritual, and to learn together what that really means.
