Liberal religion has often rejected the concept of sin to the point of it being borderline heretical to mention in our faith communities. Understandably so – hellfire and brimstone completely goes against our values. If we reframe sin as a symptom of unmet needs instead of a reflection of personal worth, though, how can UUs use this concept to inform our understanding of community care, self-love, and forgiveness?
