Building Belonging and Water Communion by Eric Hepburn

Updated: 9 hours ago

On the first Sunday of each month, we explore our Soul Matters theme. For this month, that's Building Belonging. In his book The Persuaders, Anand Giridharadas says that we need to 'sell the brownie' instead of 'selling the recipe' - might it be possible that Belonging is the Brownie of DEI Work? Are diversity, equity, and inclusion the recipe for a kind of deep belonging in which everyone is invited to participate?

A UU specific form of Building Belonging is our annual Water Communion where we ask our friends to gather a sample of water from a specific source that has special meaning, before we gather to combine all of our water during our Water Communion Ceremony.
