May the 4th Be With You! Celebration and Potluck after Sunday Service (Followed by a Hospitality Healing Circle)

Updated: May 7

We're planning a joyful celebration and potluck after service on Sunday May 4th!

  • It's May 4th for all you Star Wars Fans! Wear a costume? Yes, if you're so inclined - SGUUF is a safe place to fly your freak flag!

  • We're celebrating 1 year of Pulpiteer!

  • We're celebrating making it through the first 100 days of the current administration!

  • We're celebrating our growing community and our presence in the Poppy Parade!

  • We're celebrating because Justice and Community needs Joy to sustain it!

POTLUCK: Eating together is a time-tested way to strengthen the bonds of community, so please bring a dish to share if you are willing and able. All are welcome at table, regardless. There are some parameters for the potluck, please read them!

  • We will have buffet style tables setup in Mark's Place prior to service. You may bring your dishes in when you arrive at church. We will have a time after service to setup tables and put food out. If your food is hot or cold, please see the next note.

  • DO NOT: Bring dishes that require being plugged-in, cooked, heated, or reheated. If you wish to bring a hot dish, heat it prior to church and wrap it in a towel or put it in a cooler to keep it warm. Similarly, dishes that need to stay cool can be kept in a cooler with an ice pack.

  • DO: Make a label for your dish! Tell us what it is. Tell us what it contains, especially  allergens and animal products  (common: wheat/gluten, dairy, tree nuts, peanuts, eggs, shellfish, meat, etc.) We recommend a 3x5 card or post-it note. This is a big kindness for the members of our community with allergies and dietary restrictions, it is an important part of our commitment to welcoming.

  • DO: Bring reusable plates, cups, and silverware for your crew - we will have these for guests and those who forget, but this will make cleanup easier and more egalitarian for all.

Hospitality Healing Circle: After we've all eaten and fellowshipped, there will be a healing circle gathered for all those engaged and interested in the hospitality and coffee hour offerings of the community. If you are part of the coffee hour crew or are considering participating, this is an important opportunity to participate in a collaborative and healing discussion about how we can organize and do that work together.
