The Legacy Fund - Continuing the UU Presence in Georgetown TX

On Sunday, October 5^th, our congregation will be invited to join the Board of SGUUF and two dozen advanced donors in supporting a capital campaign aimed at keeping our UU presence in Georgetown for years to come.  This campaign is designed to build upon the legacy of the 53 members who raised $175,000 in 2013 to purchase our current church facilities.  The goal of this Legacy Fund Campaign is to secure financial commitments of $180,000 from our members and friends over the next three years to strengthen the financial well-being of our congregation into the future.  Contributions to the Legacy Fund are a gift over and above your Annual Pledge. The contributions to this Fund plus some reserves from our bank account will enable SGUUF to:

• retire the remaining $107,000 mortgage on our church property 

• replace the aging roofs on our three buildings at $75,000

• add to our Religious Exploration children’s program.  

  
  

By fulfilling these capital campaign goals our church will save approximately $13,000 per year in loan payments and reduce the property insurance premiums on our facilities. More importantly, this financial campaign will ensure that SGUUF will continue to provide a spiritual home for open-minded and open-hearted people in our community well into the future of Georgetown.  

And here is the exciting news- the SGUUF Board and advanced donors from our congregation have already committed over $100,000 in pledges to this Legacy Fund Campaign.  So we are already more than halfway to our $180,000 campaign goal. Now we are inviting the rest of our congregation and friends to make a personal commitment in support of this Legacy Fund and to help us achieve this goal. Legacy Fund Pledge Cards will be distributed to all those who have not yet pledged to this capital campaign in the hope that you will join the advanced donors in making your own three-year financial commitment to this effort beginning in 2026.  

We are asking all our members and friends to continue the legacy of generosity that was begun in 2013 by the original pioneers of SGUUF who established our UU church in Georgetown. The Capital Campaign Committee would like to have all the Legacy Fund pledge cards returned to the church treasurer- Rob Berthold- by October 23^rd. A celebration of the completion of this Legacy Fund campaign will be held on Sunday, October 26.
